Autumn/Winter2009 Our label launches a strong and wearable AW collection of separates
inspired by Queen Victoria and socialite Daphne Guinness. The Guardian’s
Lucy Siegle called the collection the highlight of Esthetica in her LFW
report. We are having an amazing response from the luxury sector.
Elena has continued with the multi-functionality concept featured in her
Spring/Summer ‘09 and has developed the interpretation of traditional
textile techniques even further. Nuno felted delicate silks in black are used
in beautifully draped evening and cocktail dresses, jackets and tops.
Garcia’s trademark cutwork on silk chiffon makes an appearance in sexy
halter neck dresses and asymmetric vests and tunics.
New this season are the organic knitted-felted pieces in un-dyed wool, long
tailed coats and jackets with detachable sleeves, capes and kimono wraps.
The designer is also introducing a hand-loomed silk tweed in an olivebrown
shade, perfect for winter and soft to the touch.
The beautiful silk satin pieces in black dominate the collection, with tiedye
“lightning” effects, raw edges and cutwork panels. The key pieces that
encapsulate the season’s look are the silk tunics and the floor length
evening dresses, dramatic statement pieces that can be worn in many ways.
As ever, there are no zips or plastic fastenings, shapes are defined by the
placement of natural shell buttons. The garments are made by the XL
Consultancy in London and finished by local textile artists. Fabrics are
organic, dyes and processes are low impact.. |
